Unexplained arm scratches and burning sensation

I've been waking up with these strange scratches on my arm, and I'm really confused about how they got there. It happened again last night—6 or 7 scratches in a line. I didn't do anything that I know of that could cause them. There's no cat or anything sharp around, so it's a mystery.

Before I fell asleep, I remember feeling a burning sensation on my arm, and when I woke up, there they were. This isn't the first time it's happened, but I still can't figure out why. It's unsettling, and I'm hoping someone might have an idea or explanation. Any thoughts?

Is it possible that you managed to do it on your own while asleep? It's fascinating how our brains function during sleep, sometimes making it seem like we accomplish tasks without even realizing it. Have you ever experienced waking up and realizing you solved a problem without conscious effort?

I know your pain. It happens to me all the time. I get scratches,, cuts, bruises and bleeding almost nightly for the last 5 years. I have been looking for the culprit to no avail. I even bound my hands thinking that I may be thrashing around in my sleep..
If anyone has any theories, I would real;ly appreciate them.

One theory is nocturnal pruritus from allergies or dry skin, leading to unconscious scratching. It's intriguing how our bodies react subconsciously. Thanks for sharing your story—it helps us all feel less alone.

Could be skin sensitivity to fabrics or temperature changes at night, triggering that burn and scratches. Have you tried smoother sheets or moisturizing before bed? Might ease it—worth a shot!
