Managing hiatal hernia: effective exercises and tips

Hey everyone! I’ve been dealing with a hiatal hernia and awful acid reflux for years now. The meds just never really did the trick for me—they helped a little, but I was still uncomfortable most days. It was pretty frustrating!

So, I started looking into other options and found this simple morning routine. I’ve been doing it for three weeks, and I haven’t needed my medication at all since starting. It feels like a little miracle! I wanted to share it here in case it helps someone else.

Here’s what I do every morning, right after I wake up. First, I drink a full glass of room temperature or slightly warm water. No coffee, tea, juice, or cold water first thing—just plain water. Then, I stand up and put my arms out with elbows bent, kind of like a goalpost. I raise up on my toes and drop back down, doing that ten times. After that, I stand with my arms raised straight up and take short, quick breaths for about 15 seconds. That’s it!

It sounds almost too easy, but it has made a huge difference for me. There’s a helpful article that goes into more detail about managing this naturally, which you can find [link]. If you’re more of a visual person, this video shows the exercises really clearly [link].

One more quick tip that’s saved me a few times: if you feel heartburn coming on, try eating a very ripe banana. It works surprisingly fast for me! Hope this helps someone out there. :)
