What are shadow people?

When I was between seven and twelve, I often saw shadowy figures that seemed like three-dimensional shadows. They appeared black and would vanish if I looked at them directly. On one occasion, I saw one run in front of me before disappearing into a wall. Once, a friend and I saw similar figures outside.

People have different ideas about what these shadow people might be. Some think they could be aliens, demons, or ghosts. Personally, I lean towards the idea that they might be spirits from another dimension. It's intriguing to consider why I no longer see these figures as an adult.
