Divining question

It has been years since I have been asked for the exact depth of what I had to divine for.
I have forgotten the 3 exact procedure.
I remember I used to walk away from the location, counting the number of steps before the rod would turn back to the point of no pull. (neutral , seek mode )straight forward.
each step away from the strong reaction/ pull indicates depth down. This I need help with as I have forgotten the scale.

Ah, the depth scale in dowsing—classically, each step away equates to one foot down. Tune into your intuition for tweaks. Grateful for this nostalgic chat—happy seeking!

Thanks I was not sure whether to take it from 100. In metres say 10 steps would mean 90 metres down.. I have been using divining rods for shallow things very Successfully.
Diving for the Atresian basin had me confused as there are shallow springs in the area. This is what I was trying to determine Whether the pull was from a depth or a relatively surface spring.
Another job after that one,had me confused because it was shallow.
Turned out I was out by mere centimeters.

@Vocaloldfart Hey Vocaloldfart, classic scale is one step per foot down—no subtracting from 100. Spiritually, sense the water's energy vibe: shallow feels light and quick, deep artesian pulses steady and ancient. Trust that inner whisper!
