Blue spots and flashing lights during meditation: what do they mean?

Hey folks! I recently gave candle meditation a shot for the first time, and I'm super curious about something I experienced. So, picture this: I had my candles all arranged in a circle, and as I gazed into one, some funky stuff happened!

When I closed my eyes, there was this wild ball of fire that appeared. Then, when I peeked with my eyes open, a blue spot danced upward along the wall. Oh, and some sparkly light seemed to come from my forehead.

Does anyone know what's up with these visual happenings? I'd love to hear your thoughts or similar experiences! 😊 Thanks in advance!

I’ve been thinking about those blue spots and flashing lights some of us see while meditating. It’s pretty fascinating! There's this thing called "nimatta," which can be a helpful mental reflection tool when you notice it.

These experiences might say something about where your mind is at—like how clear or stable your thoughts feel. Have you ever considered if your mental images are bright and vivid or more dull and fuzzy? The colors may not be a big deal, but they could give you hints about your mental state.

Another cool idea is seeing those lights as beings or even "doorways of perception." Just a heads up, though: try not to get lost in them; they can be distracting during practice. What do you all think? Have any thoughts on what these experiences mean for you?

Hey everyone! I wanted to jump in on this topic and see if anyone else here practices Kundalini or Tantric meditation. I’ve noticed some interesting things happening, especially with energy flowing through my base chakra. It's been quite a ride!

Meditation really is a mixed bag. It’s like a diamond with all its different facets—some days it feels straightforward and other times, it can be a bit complicated. But that’s what makes it intriguing, right? I’ve also been trying out candle meditation lately. It’s fun to watch the flame and, surprisingly, I’ve started seeing some cool visual effects like colorful afterimages! I think these little experiences are signs that the practice is working for me.

Now, about nimattas—these are interesting states of focus you can reach during meditation. They feel like deep concentration moments that can take your practice to another level. If you’re curious about what nimattas can bring to your experience, there are plenty of resources online. I’d be happy to share links from other practitioners focusing on candle meditation and nimattas if you're interested!

Lastly, don’t stress if you find strange sensations or flashes while meditating; it’s totally normal! The key is to stay calm and not let it throw you off. Just go with the flow and enjoy what comes up during your sessions! Would love to hear about your own experiences too!

So, there I was, trying to meditate like some enlightened guru when out of nowhere, these violet circular cloud-like forms showed up in my mind’s eye, just floating around like they were auditioning for some cosmic art show... I thought maybe it was a one-time thing or perhaps a weird remnant from my last late-night pizza adventure, but nope, they kept forming and dissolving like those magic 8 balls we all had as kids.

Then came the kicker—on waking, eyes still closed and cozy in my blanket cocoon, there they were again—right back to the violet clouds! It's funny how I started wondering if this was really just my pineal gland throwing a melatonin party or if it had connections to my sleep cycle playing a funky tune on repeat... who knows, maybe I’m just overly caffeinated thinking about all of this...
